Taste Cork is a regional branding initiative, supported by the Local Enterprise Offices Cork, Cork City Council & Cork County Council, to promote Cork's food sector and to develop a network for local food businesses.
We are dedicated to co-operation within the food industry as a means of increasing the profile and sales of quality food products from across the city and county.
Whether, it's through training, networking or collective marketing, our key aim is to work together towards promoting and expanding our valuable food sector.
Our Mission
The core aim of the Taste Cork food initiative is to support a sustainable local food industry aligned with the overall national strategy implemented by Bord Bia and other related agencies, and to act as a direct response in support of our national Food Wise 2025 strategy.
Through this integrated approach, we will celebrate and promote the distinctiveness, the quality and the huge variety of food and drink that is produced in our county.
Our Goals
- To create a strong Cork regional food brand identity
- To grow local food sales and regional food exports
- To promote regional food products at home and abroad
- To optimise routes to market for producers and food entrepreneurs
- To encourage and support market-led food entrepreneurship and the creation of new employment
- To create a food network for Cork's producers, retailers, foodservice outlets and hospitality outlets to encourage communication and collaboration
- Create an integrated approach involving local and national agencies to ensure a comprehensive support structure is in place
- To increase the consumer profile of Cork food producers
- To develop regional support for the Cork food sector in the areas of education, training and upskilling
- To increase sustainable local SME food production
- To enhance collaboration with science and technology, education and training to increase the productivity of food businesses and to encourage food innovation and new product development
- To attract additional food tourism to the Cork region
- To quantify and benchmark local output from the region
